Wordpress is a wonderful blog software available under GPL. I tested this blog on www.firefoxbikes.com which has come to be a beautiful site using Wordpress at the backend. A simple test installation for review was done by www.linux4india.com which can be visited at:

To create one's own blog with private domain without spending huge amount, Wordpress is a great resource. It contains CMS to manage blogs and content pages. The amount of work being done by lot of developers resulting in various addons and components makes this a very good choice.
